Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI)
STDs or STIs are infections that are passed from one person to another through sexual contact, including vaginal, oral or anal sex.
They can also be spread through skin-to-skin contact. STDs can be caused by bacteria, viruses, or parasites and can affect both men
and women, often more severely in women. They can also be passed to babies during pregnancy or childbirth.
Symptoms
STDs may not always exhibit symptoms, but when they do, they may include unusual discharge, sores or warts, painful urination, itching, blisters, abnormal odor, anal itching or bleeding, abdominal pain, and fever. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, we encourage you to get tested as soon as possible.
Testing and Treatment
Diagnosis of STDs may involve a physical exam or testing of fluids or blood. Our service provides confidential testing and consultation. Antibiotics can treat STDs caused by bacteria or parasites, while viral STDs have no cure, but symptoms can be managed.
Prevention
Preventing STDs is crucial. This can be achieved through abstinence, vaccination for hepatitis B and HPV, reducing the number of sexual partners, practicing mutual monogamy, and using condoms consistently and correctly. Latex condoms, in particular, can significantly reduce the risk of catching or spreading STDs
At Zest Clinic, we offer a wide range of diagnostics and screening tests to detect STIs. Our goal is not only to provide treatments but
also to empower you with knowledge about STDs and how to protect yourself and your partners.
