Knee Injuries
Many suffer with knee discomfort, soreness, and rigidity. Although severe cases can be due to infections, tumors, or fractures, the primary reasons are typically mechanical in nature.
Mechanical triggers of knee discomfort include:
- 1. knee strains
- 2. progressive knee osteoarthritis (wearing down)
- 3. damage to the meniscus
- 4. tears in the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments (ACL rupture, PCL strain)
- 5. injuries to the medial and lateral collateral ligaments (MCL damage, LCL rupture)
While these knee pain triggers are generally not life-threatening, they can lead to substantial distress. They can make walking difficult, result in missed work, impair social interactions, and contribute to a negative mood.
