HIFU

What is HIFU?

High-Intensity Frequency Ultrasound (HIFU) is a minimally invasive procedure using ultrasound waves to treat a variety of conditions – both medical and aesthetic. The high-intensity and highly focused sound waves will interact with the targeted tissues in your body to either modify or destroy them completely. It is a safe and effective treatment option if you are suffering from tumours, uterine fibroids or tremors; or double chin and sagging skin.

How does HIFU work?

For medical treatments, HIFU works using beams of ultrasound to focus on the treatment area, targeting the exact tissue area. Ultrasound beams are capable of passing through layers of tissue and leaving them unharmed until it reaches the targeted area. With this highly focused energy from the ultrasound, the temperature of the targeted tissue will rise and is destroyed. This is known as ablates.

For aesthetic treatments, HIFU can precisely target the deep layers of your skin to stimulate new collagen growth and elastic production. The heat generated with HIFU can cause your skin to shrink and tighten back into an improved state for more youthful-looking skin.

What results can I expect?

Individual results may vary depending on the treatment and treated area. However, you should expect a much shorter recovery time compared to more invasive forms of treatment for the same problems. Going for regular follow-ups with your doctor will give you a better idea of how well the treatment is going and if you will require more sessions. Your doctor will also advise you on what to expect and how any aftercare you will need to follow. This will all depend on your condition.
